I was born in Santiago, Chile and came to the United States when I was 5 years old.  I started first grade in this country, which started my educational journey.  My third grade teacher saw potential in her students; she saw qualities in her students that her students could not see in themselves.  At the tender age of 8 years old, she noticed my innate ability to connect with others and geared me towards achieving academic excellence.  I like to think that it was in the third grade where the counselor inside me was born. I wanted to be like my third grade teacher. I wanted to see those positive qualities in young people and use qualities to gear them towards a successful future.  I went to college, then graduate school.  I graduated at 24 years old, and a few months later, I was hired at Cleveland High School.  I’ve been at “The Land” for eight years now, and this is the best school at which I’ve ever had the pleasure of working. I have been extremely lucky in my life. I had people believe in me, and I had the privilege to go to college.  I got the opportunity to achieve my dream.
