Tony Saavedra
Tony Saavedra began teaching high school in 2005. He attended the Cleveland High School Humanities Magnet and graduated in 1999. Following high school, Mr. Saavedra attended California State University, Northridge and earned a B.A. (2003) and M.A. (2005) in History and a secondary education teaching credential (2005). The areas of focus for his Master’s degree were 20th century U.S. history and 20th century Latin American history.
Mr. Saavedra is the 11th grade Coordinator. He teaches Advanced Placement United States History, 11th Grade Core, and AP Human Geography. AP U.S. History is part of the interdisciplinary 11th grade American Studies curriculum. AP Human Geography is a supplemental part of the ninth grade Core curriculum.
Mr. Saavedra’s hobbies include watching the Los Angeles Kings, studying history, reading, and running. Mr. Saavedra is a co-leader for Students Run Los Angeles, an organization that helps to train students to run the Los Angeles Marathon. He has completed more than thirty half-marathons and the Los Angeles Marathon eight times.
